I shot three new videos for the wonderful people at Couch by Couchwest this year. This marks the fifth year of the online alternative to South by Southwest, and fourth consecutive year Sci-Fi Romance has participated. All of our past performances are also linked on this year’s page.
I tried to bring a nice variety to this year’s slate, so I recorded a song off of The Ghost of John Henry, a new song off the album we’re currently working on, and a cover of a 1991 Temple of the Dog song, Wooden Jesus.
Wooden Jesus was particularly interesting for me, since I fell in love with that song before I’d ever even picked up an instrument, and the instrument I picked up after being moved by bands like Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana…was drums. If you had told the teenaged version of me that one day I would arrange that song for acoustic guitar and sing it for the whole world to see, I would’ve thought you were nuts.
Here’s Wooden Jesus. To see the rest of the videos, visit Couch by Couchwest, and be sure to click “Like” and leave a comment.
